Announcements and Important Events
We are soon to have the 10th annual Trooper Iwaniec Memorial Race in honor of Kenton, a Ligoiner Valley graduate, who was killed by an impaired driver. The Kenton Iwaniec Memorial Foundation strives to continue Kenton's legacy of service and commitment to saving lives. We created the Trooper Kenton Iwaniec Memorial Foundation as a means to honor all DUI victims and to enable the community to take an active role in reducing the number of DUIs.
All race proceeds go to the purchase of preliminary breath test devices for state and local law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth. Since 2009, we have distributed 1,410 PBTs, which range in price from $350-$700. This year, our goal is to raise $100,000 and purchase 200 PBTs. We have already made arrangements to distribute nearly 100 PBTs at the 2018 race and more requests are coming in on a daily basis. In the last nine years, we have seen over a 40% reduction in DUI deaths in our state. So, thank you for all of your support!
The ninth annual race is scheduled for April 13, 2019 at Saint Vincent College. I have attached a registration packet to this email. For more information about Kenton, the race, and sponsorships please visit: www.trooperiwaniec.org.
