The LV Boys’ team were solid in all of the track and field events Wednesday afternoon to sweep Geibel for a Section 8 victory at Latrobe. The boys team took first place in every event. First place finishers include: 3200 Meter Relay (Landon Hoyman, James DeShepper, Skyler Emert, and Josiah Smith), 110 High Hurdles (Hunter Carr), 100 Meter Dash (Mark Jablunovsky), 1600 Meter Run (Josiah Smith), 400 Meter Relay (Mark Jablunovsky, John Jablunovsky, Aiden Brisendine, and Nick Lonas), 400 Meter Dash (Hayden Fawcett), 300 Meter Hurdles (Hunter Carr), 800 Meter Run (Landan Wible), 200 Meter Dash (Nick Lonas), 3200 Meter Run (Landon Hoyman), 1600 Meter relay (John Jablunovsky, Hunter Carr, Maxx Oberley, and Aiden Brisendine), Pole Vault (Aiden and Alec Brisendine), Long Jump and Triple Jump (Mark Jablunovsky), High Jump (John Jablunovsky), Shot Put (Colin Smith), Discus (Colin Smith), and Javelin (Mason Mohnkern). The Rams are now 3-2 in Section 8 competition. They team will be back in action on Saturday at the United Invitational.
The Ligonier Valley Girls' Track team swept Geibel Catholic High school on Wednesday to grab their first Section 8 victory of the 2023 season. The girls team dominated Geibel Catholic earning 13 first place finishes overall, while also sweeping 12/17 events. Girls team members earning first place honors tonight were as follows: 3200m Relay (Adleigh Myers, Gabby Palmer, Mara Myers and Clara Wallace), 100m hurdles (Kiersten Auman), 1600m Run (Mara Myers), 300m Hurdles (Kiersten Auman), 800m Run (Clara Wallace), 3200m Run (Gabby Palmer), 1600m Relay (Adleigh Myers, Mara Myers, Katia Gunter and Clara Wallace), Long Jump (Kassia McPherson), Triple Jump (Mikayla Moore), High Jump (Megan Glista), Shot Put (Hailey Brown) and Discus (Hailey Brown). LV Girls team scored 12 second place finishes against Geibel HS: 100m Hurdles (Ella Pierce), 100m Dash (Allyson Steffey), 1600m Run (Gabby Palmer), 400m Dash (Katia Gunter), Long Jump (Bella Palmer), Triple Jump (Jenny Galo), Shot Put (Maggie Markosky), Discus (Grace Wilcox), Javelin (Kim Foust) and High Jump (Ana Charlebois). LV Girls also earned an additional 9 third place finishes on the track & in the field to fill out their final score of 110-24. The girls' victory tonight also included many personal best times and distances on both the track and in the field for the Girls. The LV Girls' team will compete on Saturday 4/15/23 at the United Invitational.
